A series of bomb attacks have badly hit US troops in eastern and southern Afghanistan in the past 48 hours.

The death toll among in the Nato-led coalition has reached 484 this year and is predicted to far surpass 2009’s total of 521.

Deaths have risen consistently each year since 2001. Afghan police and civilians have suffered far higher casualties.

The coalition blames the rise in troop deaths partly on the influx of reinforcements, which is allowing commanders to target previously untouched insurgent safe havens where rebels are mounting stiff resistance.

Gen David Petraeus, senior US and Nato commander in the country, warned last week fighting would “get harder before it gets easier”.

Kill, kill, kill but sometimes you will also get killed!

If you kill the enemy, you are a hero: if the enemy kills you, you are still a hero. So, good luck has placed American soldiers always in a win-win situation!

Isn’t this what we experience when it comes to the lives of the ordinary men and women in unifrom? But why this madness doesn’t stop?

Is it merely because the corporate interests, profiteers and politicians say and decide so? Remember, wars unleashed by America are the most lucrative business for weapons industry and private contractors than any other undertaking.

But what about the role and responsibility of the ordianry people in this unending tragedy for the majority but high profits for some? Perhaps some wise American will enlighten us on these matters. We know what the ruling establishment of the United States does and how it manipulates the domestic and global public opinion.
