--Nasir Khan
There is a complicated and long historical background to this resolution. It was passed after the headquarters of the British mandatory administration in the King David Hotel in Jerusalem were blown up by the Zionist terrorists in 1946. The British made a quick retreat from Palestine in 1948, leaving the Zionists as the new masters.
However, the formality of the Resolution 181 was to give the stamp of approval to the imperial patronage of the Zionist objectives that had started with the Balfour Declaration of 1917 and resulted in the establishment of Israel in 1948, soon followed by the expulsion of the people of Palestine from their land by Israel. What Israel is doing in its war on Gaza is the continuation of its project that started in 1948 or even before.
